The latest to join our pet care franchise is Amy Putzler, who plans to bring Wag N’ Wash to her hometown of St. Louis, MO! Our marketing team was fortunate enough to sit down with Amy for an exclusive Q & A. 

        What is your personal/professional background?

        I have nearly 20 years of experience in Human Resources. 18 of the 20 years were spent at a regional non-profit. The last five of which were as the Chief Human Resources Officer.

        What are your personal hobbies or interests?

        In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, and baking.

        How did you first learn about Wag N’ Wash?

        I came across Wag N’ Wash online when I was looking for franchise opportunities.

        What was the AHA or Lightbulb moment that made you want to franchise with our pet care franchise?

        Definitely attending the Discovery Day! It was amazing meeting the Founders and everyone whom I had been speaking with in person. I was super excited about the business model and knew that I wanted to move forward.

        What do you think will make you successful?

        I have years of management experience that I think will be beneficial. Also, the simplicity of the Wag N’ Wash model.

        What sets Wag N’ Wash apart, in your eyes, from other pet care franchise opportunities in the Industry?

        I appreciated that the Founders were still actively involved in growing the brand and how much passion they showed for each area of their business.  

        What has been the best part of your experience with Wag N’ Wash corporate team so far?

        They have been very helpful and detailed in each step of the process. They’ve made sure everything has been smooth and are transparent with each aspect of the business model!

        How important are dogs/pets in your daily life?  

        Our dog is the center of the family.  She goes everywhere with us.  Honestly, we would be lost without her.

        What do you look forward to about owning your own Wag N’ Wash franchise?  

        Taking my dog to work with me.  After years of having an office job, I am thrilled I will have the opportunity to do this.

          Be it our customers, their pets, or our Franchise Owners, we take care of our own here at Wag N’ Wash. For our pet store franchise, this means giving back to the local community. So, in typical Wag N’ Wash fashion, we decided to host a dental care tutorial for our customers in partnership with local veterinarians. An article from local Colorado Springs publication, The Gazette, highlighted the tutorial and its key takeaways for pet owners.

          As a Wag N’ Wash Franchise Owner, these kinds of events are not uncommon at your pet store franchise. Being pet owners ourselves, it’s common for us to see dental issues in our four legged friends, many of which can be easily avoided. Our Colorado Springs location hosted local veterinarian Dr. Anna Norman who took us through the entire dental cleaning process for our customers. 

           

          Per the article, the dental cleaning process involves eight streamlined steps, 

           “1. ORAL RINSE

          Before the dental cleaning process starts, the oral cavity is rinsed with 0.12% Chlorhexidine to decrease bacteria in the mouth.

          2. SCALING THE TEETH

          A sharp, sterile scaler removes all the calculus from every tooth.

          3. SCALING UNDER THE GUM LINE

          Curettes are used to remove plaque and calculus from below the gum line.

          4. PROBING

          After all the tartar has been removed each tooth is probed for pocket depth to identify gum disease.

          5. CHARTING

          All of the identifiable disease present before treatment is recorded. If necessary, we will refer you to your vet.

          6. POLISHING

          No matter how careful we are during the scaling/curettage phase of teeth cleaning, minor micro abrasions of the tooth surface occur. Polishing smooths out the defects and removes any plaque missed during previous steps.

          7. IRRIGATION

          After polishing the teeth we rinse the mouth out with oral rinse solution.

          8. CLIENT EDUCATION

          The vet will explain everything they found and discuss a treatment plan. She can dispense antibiotics and advise you to follow up with your veterinarian for additional procedures if needed. If you give them your email they will send you a notice when your next cleaning is due.”


          After her instruction, Dr. Norman, along with some of our local staff and Franchise Owners hosted a Q & A session with customers and discussed some of the premises of our Wag N’ Wash pet store franchise.

            Many people have been asking us at Wag N’ Wash, “What inspired you to host this event?” Well more than anything, our Healthcare Heroes Event was our way of saying THANK YOU to all of those who have worked non-stop over these past months to keep us safe.
